Bolaji Abdullahi sacked as Sports Minister, Tamuno Danagogo takes over

Bolaji-Abdullahi1President Goodluck Jonathan, today sacked Mr. Bolaji Abdullahi as the Minister of Sports and replaced him with Dr. Tamuno Danagogo.

Abdullahi was appointed as the Minister of Youth Development by Jonathan in July 2011. He is said to have performed above average since he assumed office, and has been widely praised for his pro-active and youth-friendly approach.

Recall that Abdullahi has recently been criticised by Nigerian lawmakers for abandoning the Ministry’s budget defence for an overseas’ trip.

The president also swore in 10 other new Ministers and assigned portfolios to them. They have since taken their oaths of offices at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Below are the new Ministers and their portfolios:

Mohammed Wakil – Minister of State Power
Alhaji Abduljelili Adesiyan – Minister of Police Affairs
Ambassador Aminu Wali – Minister of Foreign Affairs
Mrs. Akon Eyakenyi – Minister of Land and Housing
Dr. Tamuno Danagogo – Minister of Sports
Hajia Asabe Asmau Ahmed – Minister of State Agriculture
Boni Haruna – Minister of Youth Development
Dr. Khaliru Alhassan – Minister of State HealthGen.
Aliyu Gusau – Minister of Defence
Senator Musiliu Obanikoro – Minister of State Defence
Lawrencia Laraba Mallam – Minister of Environment
