Borno: Boko Haram militants attack passengers along Damboa-Maiduguri road

It was a painful day for Malama Zainabu, a 54-year-old woman, whose son, aged around 20 was killed Saturday by suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgents.

DailyPost learnt that the terrorists attacked a passenger vehicle along Damboa, Maiduguri road.

An eye witness, Hajara Salihu told DailyPost that the young man was asked by the insurgents to follow them, but he refused, adding that he held onto his mother before they dragged him off the bus and killed him.

“He was the only young man in the bus and they wanted him to follow them so that he can become a Boko Haram member, but the boy said he would not go down from the vehicle but they pull him forcefully out before they slaughtered him”, she said.

Asked whether the military came to the spot, she said, “when they killed the boy, they quickly ran into the bush and we also ran to the next checking point and informed the soldiers.

“We did not follow them back to our bus where the woman sat beside the corpse of the son crying. The soldiers stopped another vehicle which carried us to Maiduguri and left the bus driver and the woman where the Boko Haram stopped us”, she added.

Attempt to get the spokesman of the 7 Division Nigerian Army, Col. Mohammed Dole to speak on the incident did not yield result as his phones were switch off.
