APC registration: Sheriff storms Maiduguri again, receives rousing welcome

Former Governor of Borno State, Ali Modu Sheriff stormed Maiduguri, the Borno State capital on Sunday from where he headed for Ngala Local Government to participate in the ongoing APC registration in the state.

Sheriff, who left Maiduguri on January 14, 2014 after the bomb blast, which was allegedly targeted at him, was received by thousands of supporters and admirers.

DailyPost observed that contrary to insinuations that the bomb blast, which killed many people at the post office area may dent the image of the former Governor, the situation, however, made him a hero of the people.

Sheriff, who made a triumphant entry to Maiduguri, was accompanied by national and state assembly members as well as politicians drawn from the APC in the state.

From the airport to his house, over 300 vehicles followed the former governor, whom they described as leader of the party in the North-East.

Also, hundreds of vehicles, which came from the local government areas waited for the former governor along Custom Area in Maiduguri to accompany him to his home town Ngala, in Ngala Local Government council of the state.

According to his associates, the former governor may stay for ten days in Maiduguri where he hopes to visit other local government areas in the northern Borno.
