The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Chief Olusola Oke, today raised the alarm that the ongoing feud between the incumbent President, Goodluck Jonathan and former President, Olusegun Obasanjo may become a threat to the party’s campaign for the 2015 general elections, if other party stakeholders do not intervene.

Oke, a former PDP National Legal Adviser spoke at a thanksgiving service organized for him to appreciate God for his participation in the October 20, 2012, governorship election. The thanksgiving service was held at the Church of Christ, Agbala Ologo in Igbokoda Ilaje local government area of the state.

He noted that the recent open letter from Obasanjo to Jonathan was an indication that the ruling party has been in serious crisis.

The former Legal Adviser, however urged the party national Chairman, Bamanga Tukur and other leaders to quickly intervene before the crisis destroys the party.

His words “The letter by the former President showed disagreement between the two leaders. I am too little in politics to comment, it shows that PDP has internal problem which must be redressed.

“We cannot accommodate any disagreement between President Obasanjo and President Jonathan, and I use this medium to call on the Chairman to rise to the challenge because any disagreement between Obasanjo and Jonathan will smack disaster for PDP. We must rise to appeal to the two leaders. We should be able to tell Obasanjo to sheath his sword and President Jonathan to listen and address the issues raised in the letter.

On why he decided to contest in the governorship election, Oke said he took the decision to end the perceived misrule of the ruling Labour Party (LP) and prove that PDP was alive in the state, contrary some opinions.

Despite his loss, Oke said the election had proved to all discerning minds that the PDP was not dead in the state and that the party was on the verge of total reconciliation of its aggrieved members.

He however appealed to President Jonathan to support party members so as to stop members from drifting to opposition political parties.

Oke lamented a situation where the leadership of the PDP give
preferential treatment to adopted children of the party at the expense of
the original members of the party.

Oke was optimistic that the party would win the next 2017 governorship in the
state as well as make great impact in the National and State Assemblies elections that will hold in 2015.
