The Lagos State Government says a section of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, from Orile Iganmu to Maza-Maza will be closed to traffic today, Sunday, December 1, 2013

Lagos Commissioner for Transport, Kayode Opeifa in a statement explained that this is due to the ongoing light rail project on the road.

He said that traffic on the dual carriageway would only be allowed from 7.00 a.m. to noon today.

Opeifa said that motorists from the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway would not be able to access the road. He said that traffic would, therefore, be diverted via the FESTAC Link Road to rejoin the expressway at FESTAC.

He said: “The installation of the pedestrian bridge beam which commenced on October 20 at Mile 2 will span across Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

“The beam launch will leave an impact on the traffic flow on the Badagry-bound carriageway and traffic from Apapa-Oshodi Expressway, linking the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.

“All measures will be put in place to minimise delay in traffic within the area during the launch.

“Motorists and other road users are, therefore, advised to use alternative routes to avoid traffic delay,” he said.

The Commissioner appealed for the cooperation of all road users.
