ndigbo-naijanedu-e1324587504715Apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, on Saturday failed to take a position on the proposed National Conference by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Its Ime Obi (highest decision organ), after yesterday’s meeting held at the secretariat of Ohanaeze in Enugu, said it needed to consult widely before a position is announced.

The group which has been at the forefront of the proposed Conference, spoke through its Deputy Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Isaac Wonwu, who briefed journalists at the end of the meeting.

“We have a responsibility as a group, we also want to ensure that we properly consult the nooks and crannies of Ndigbo and the governors before taking our position”, he said.

“The meeting of today is inconclusive and until we consult properly, we will not make our position known,” he added.

The Advisory Committee is scheduled to meet with the Ohanaeze in Enugu on October 28.

It is expected that the body will on that day, declare whether or not to take part in the conference.
