E-exam will promote FG’s education transformation – JAMB Registrar

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dibu Ojerinde, has assured that the Computer Based Examination newly introduced by his Board would contribute in no small measure to the transformation of the educational system in the country.

The Registrar, who stated this during a courtesy call on the Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko at his Office in Akure, expressed optimism that the newly introduced computer based examination programme would contribute greatly towards uplifting examination conducts in Nigeria.

He debunked insinuation that the computer based examination would further compound examination problem in the country.

Ojerinde added that with the extermination been tried out already in some schools on the eligibility of the concept, it showed that the use of e-testing would only enhance better performance of the Board, rather than compound its problem.

He said that a total of ten different schools in Ondo State had each released ten of their students for the e-testing programme with a huge success recorded during the exercise.

The JAMB Registrar who used the occasion to express his sympathy for government and people of Ondo State on the demise of the former Governor of the state, the Late Dr Olusegun Kokumo Agagu, also noted that Ondo Statewas chosen for the computer based test exercise because of its known advances in education.

In his response, the Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Ali Olanusi, thanked the Examination Board for choosing Ondo State for the national exercise, stressing his government’s support for the programme.

He explained the various efforts of his government towards lifting the standard of education in the state since he came on board, saying that the standard was highly poor at the inception of the administration in the state.

According to him, the concept of the Mega Primary Schools established across the eighteen Local Government Areas of the state was part of the efforts made to promote the course of education in the state, promising that his administration was ready to partner with relevant agencies to take education to the expected height in the state.
