AMA Foundation, an Abuja based non-governmental organization has donated 40 units of laptop computers to faculties of law and medicine of the University of Nigeria, Enugu Campus (UNEC).

Each of the faculties got twenty units of laptop computers valued at N2.2 million.

Making the presentation on behalf of the organization, Aisha Yusuf Mamman, a Director in the Foundation hinted that the University of Nigeria, Nsukka was one of the ten beneficiary universities selected across Nigeria for the gesture.

She observed that the choice of UNN was informed by the fact that one of the organization’s directors, Mr. Chukwubuike Onwuzurumba is an alumnus of the University of Nigeria.

Onwuzurumba was a onetime President of Law Students Association, UNEC chapter.

According to Mamman, the Foundation’s philanthropy programme stood on a tripod- education, empowerment and health care.

“The Foundation believes in giving back to the society; it has indeed given a lift to several individuals and institutions as part of our corporate social responsibility.

“The recent gesture therefore is aimed at giving the two Faculties of the University an ICT backbone”, she stated.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, UNEC represented by Dr. Edith Nwosu, the University orator, thanked the Foundation for offering the University a strong support aimed at driving the Institution forward.

She urged the organization to strengthen the relationship between her and the University, noting that the University of Nigeria through hard work had marked out herself as a distinguished centre of excellence and scholarship.

She noted that the institution ranked high on major ICT indices, which had given rise to top flight graduates for the job market.

Also speaking, the Dean, Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Basil Ezeanolue expressed appreciation over the partnership.

He assured the foundation that the faculty would make good use of the computers.
