Jos: Two police officers dismissed for selling ammunition

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed two of its Officers serving at its Divisional Office in Barkin-Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, for allegedly selling some ammunition to the public among various crimes. Aside the dismissed officers, 13 car snatchers/armed fabricators were also paraded.

Mr. Chris Olakpe who is the State Police Commissioner made this disclosure on Thursday, while briefing journalists in his office in Jos.

According to him, the officers were dismissed 24 hours ago, following the directives of the Inspector General of Police that there is “no place for a criminal police officer in the Police Force”.

The two officers whose names were given as Constable Emmanuel Dakol and Corporal Joseph Dakup, were said to have specialized in selling ammunition to the public.

The Police Commissioner who also paraded 13 armed robbers, who specialize in car snatching/ theft stressed that the police were battle ready to make Plateau a crime free State.

Olakpe further explained that five of the suspects were arrested for fabricating locally made pistol, describing them as crisis merchants whose activities have kept encouraging the protracted civil unrest in the state.

The Police Chief called on those who have lost their cars through car thief to come to the command with authentic documents for claims, saying the Command recently recovered 11 vehicles from car snatchers in the state, adding that one of the vehicles whose registration number was given as Abuja, EU 537-ABJ has been re-registered.

He maintained that the primary responsibility of the Police was to arrest and investigate criminals, and when they are found guilty, they are handed over for prosecution.

Reacting on the persistent killings in three villages in Langtang South Local Government Area of the state, the Police boss said the command was aware of the death of 31 people and the 9 who were injured.

Adding that, anybody who is giving out contrary figure should take responsibility.

Disclosing that they have names and location of the 31 deceased persons, he said the police was ready to make Plateau a peaceful state.
