As the Appeal Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo state capital prepares to deliver its Judgement on the last governorship election today, scores of christian and muslim ‘faithfuls’ yesterday converged at Ita-Ogbolu, Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo state for marathon prayers to facilitate the victory of the Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN.

The various religious bodies were also seeking divine intervention in the affairs of the Sunshine State.

The interdenominational religious programme organized by the Sunshine Coalition,SC,a group within the Action Congress of Nigeria,ACN, in the state was led by Prophet Akinola Michael and Evangelist Raphael Akerele on the part of the Christian body, while Alhaji Adepoju Tajudeen and Alhaji Mudashiru Shittu coordinated the Muslims body.

Their prayer points centred on leadership change and victory for ACN and its governorship candidate,Mr Rotimi Akeredolu,SAN,

The religious
leaders acknowledged the efficacy of prayers towards bringing justice to the pauperized citizenry, stressing that ”rather than rituals being carried out by those at the corridors of power,we seek divine intervention from God”.

They cited bible and koran verses to buttress their beliefs, pointing out that the present hardship confronting the citizenry in the state would be reversed with fervent prayers.

Speaking to reporters after the marathon prayers, the state coordinator of Sunshine Coalition,Mr Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye said”; in this time of protracted sufferings in the state,God is the only solution to our problems.

”We are praying for justice at the Appeal Court,we are not like those who have confidence in fetish power,we believe in the efficacy off prayers. It happened in Osun and Ekiti States, Ondo will not be an exception”.

”Even, the biblical Israelities in their turbulent days called on God and their prayers were answered. Ondo state is presently in ruins,it has remained static,we need the intervention of God,and this prompted the divine gathering,we are now witnessing.

The SC Chairman in Akure North, Hon Fatukasi Oluwatuyi and Women Leader,Alhaja Serifat Adepoju said”we believe in God,we abhor ritualism and with our ceaseless prayers,we will have justice at the Appeal Court.
