Lack of government protection responsible for Borno residents’ unwillingness to expose Boko Haram – Honourable Terab

Abdulraham Tareb has said that unless the federal government provides maximum security to the people in the North, nobody would dare to assists in revealing the identity of the Boko Haram members living among the people, DailyPost can report.

The Reps member has said that the federal government does not understand what Borno state was going through and as such had neglected the people and the state, adding that the most worrisome was that the security men had failed to give the federal government the right advice and better strategies to combat insecurity in the state.

He said that so much had been voted towards addressing security in the country, yet not much has been achieved in Borno state, and possibly in the entire country.

He said despite the huge amount involve, the soldiers are not motivated and as a result, they continue to met their anger on the people they are meant to protect ” when the soldiers are hungry, my fear is that they would continue to pour their anger on the innocent civilians like what we witnessed in Baga and Bama recently. Again, my fear for the country is that mutiny will set in, if the soldiers are continuously ill-treated by those at the top.” He explained.

He said the solution to the Bokp Haram insurgency would be the understanding of the entire country that it’s not a Borno problem, but a national problem that should generate national concern.
