“God has really worked for me” – Emenike delighted to be cleared of match-fixing charges

Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike, has expressed his happiness, after he was finally cleared of match-fixing allegations in Turkey.

An Istanbul court, on Thursday, acquitted the Spartak Moscow player of any involvement in match-fixing, during his time in Turkey.

Emenike was facing a jail term of between one to three years, after he spent an ill-fated six weeks at Fenerbahce during the 2010/2011 Super League season.

“God has really worked for me, it’s neither by my power nor anybody’s power but God. I have waited long for this because it was a negative on my career and I thank God that everything has been cleared and I am happy again,” he said.

“It’s worth a celebration, maybe I will think about that but I must give God the glory for clearing me at last.”

Emenike, who is making a return from thigh injury he suffered during the Nations Cup in South Africa, added: “During the trial, I never panicked because I always believed I am not guilty, I don’t know anything about it, sometimes it took a while before such things can be proved right.

“It was a big lesson for me, even though the scandal had made me very popular on the internet, sometimes I laughed, sometimes I felt bad, but mostly I ignored the whole thing because my critics used that as opportunity but God has answered for me.

“I will be looking forward to celebrate this with goals by the grace of God.”
