“Give way for ACN government in Ondo state” – Akeredolu tells Mimiko
Apparently disturbed by what he termed “inept” administration of the present Labour Party (LP) in Ondo State, the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) governorship candidate, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) yesterday urged Governor Olusegun Mimiko to vacate the seat for a purposeful government.
Speaking to reporters at an interactive session at the NUJ press center, Akure, the front line Lawyer said Mimiko and the ruling Labour Party are indifferent to the progressive vision.
He said “As a progressive , I believe in regional integration, anybody against it is selfish, we have always set up the pace for others to follow, the late sage died for the whole western region and we are re-enacting it now”
“Other states in the southwest need Ondo to provide gas that will assist us in generating light, Yoruba people can be in different political parties, but the issue of regional integration is non-negotiable, any bonafide Yoruba man should support the idea”
Akeredolu who promised to serve the citizenry diligently said ” I am a professional in politics and not a professional politician, I am not like Mimiko, who is a Medical Doctor but abandoned the profession for politics completely. His clinic is already taken over by bush, go to Ibadan, my chamber is alive, I have reached the peak of my profession as Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN)”
“I have a sound pedigree, I had a stunt in Ondo State as Attorney General and Commission for Justice, and handled many celebrated cases before I was elected the President of the prestigious Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Mimiko has not practiced as a Medical Doctor for a day.
The ACN flagbearer said regionalism is an impetus for growth and development , stressing that the era of western, Northern, and Eastern region brought remarkable feat to Nigeria.
On Mega Schools, Akeredolu said, “you don’t need N650 Million to establish a single school, when the same amount could build hundreds, across the state like it was practiced during Dr. Olusegun Agagu’s administration.
He decried the total neglect of rural communities in the state by Mimiko’s government stressing that if ACN gets to power, he would improve on infrastructural development, particularly accessible road in the rural areas while all abandoned road projects would be completed.
Akeredolu listed various programmes branded “AKETI” including, Agriculture, Knowledge, Education, Technology and Infrastructures, saying, “I will bring positive change to the people of the State, If elected by identifying various potentials without hindrances.
“It is time for service; people in the State are yearning for development, which according to him should not be with lip service.
“I am propelled to serve the State and its people who are being short – changed through Mimiko’s cosmetics governance”.
He disclosed that the present administration has received over N650 billion since its inception but nothing tangible to show for it except market stalls, bus stops and water fountain.
