“Thank you for making me Don Jazzy” – Producer gives kudos to D’Banj, 2face, Wande Coal, JJC

Mavin boss and super producer, Don Jazzy, took time out this morning, to appreciate several people, who have directly or indirectly influenced his career so far. Tweeting with the hashtag #Kudos, the 29-year-old, backed up the encomiums, with specific reasons.

Referring his former protegé and MoHits co-founder, D’Banj, he wrote: “#KUDOS to my bro Dbanj for without him my production skills I gathered from JJC might have been a waste. Dude made me Don Jazzy.”

It was through JJC, that Don Jazzy and D’Banj met in the UK. Both of them worked under him, before he decided to return to Nigeria to set up their own record label. Don Jazzy, also reserved special praise for JJC, who is now also based in the country.

“#KUDOS to JJC 4 w/out him I would still be doing ‘tungba’ music. Not saying that is not good. But I found out I was better doing something else.”

Another inspirational figure for him – although not a direct influence – is the one and only 2face Idibia.

“#KUDOS to our baba 2face for just being who he is. I don’t think he knows how much he influenced me.”

Don Jazzy also took time out to appreciate the artistes he currently has on his Mavin Records – his younger brother D’Prince and Wande Coal.

“#KUDOS to Wande Coal for making my beats sound great with his voice from heaven. And for the name Don Baba J,” he tweeted.

“#KUDOS to D’Prince who made sure he criticized all my beats till I made Tongolo remix. I kinda always wanted to prove to him I could do it.
