Ondo governorship poll: “ACN will unseat Mimiko” – Tinubu, “It’s a pipe dream” – Mimiko

By on September 15, 2012

National leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the executive governor of Ondo state, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko on Friday descended from the platform of statesmen into an acrimonious mutual war of words, accusing each other of shenanigans and boasting of who will carry the day in the October 20 governorship election in Ondo State.

Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State while speaking upon his arrival from the United States of America (USA) where he went for the Democratic Party Convention avowed that ACN would oust the Labour Party (LP) from power in the upcoming election.

He said: “We are working hard for the October gubernatorial election in Ondo State. Our candidate is working hard. The party is working very hard. All our structures are in place. And as long as the election is well monitored and controlled, we are vey sure of victory.”

Reacting to his assertion, Ondo State governor and flag bearer of the Labour Party, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko described Tinubu’s word as ‘a pipe dream, saying that his party would meet waterloo.

Mimiko, popularly called the Iroko, while speaking through his Commissioner for Information, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, said: “Ondo people are not slaves. They will not worship on foreign altar. He will meet his waterloo in Ondo come October 20.”

Meanwhile, Senator Tinubu maintained that he was invited to attend the National Democratic Convention in America contrary to the earlier rumour held that he bought his invitation card with $5,000.

Speaking further, Asiwaju stated that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) did not have the moral right to question his invitation to the convention, which, he said, was not enough excuse for the party not to have found a lasting solution to some national challenges such as security, power and water, among others “It is unfortunate that we have not been able to distinguish between public contact and a proper democratic convention. There is a great exhibition of Nigerian ignorance and those scavenging  power in it’s corridors. They do not even appreciate  that fact that we fought for democracy. During the struggle for this democracy, there was a lot of precedence and people outside this country are still watching us. I  was at the convention. I was invited properly. Who are the people asking me to prove anything?

“Is it about the high rate of unemployment in this country? Is it about the inability of the ruling party to provide food on the table for hungry Nigerians? Is it about the state of electricity in the country that they cannot privatise properly, without blackmailing the former minister of power, who the government forced to resign, because they have the agenda of turning everything into a family affair?” he added.

Coming to fraud Ondo like Ekiti? Look at this

#HELP! Before Fayemi kills Ekiti Sch pupils with his Sch Repair Fraud!#

These pictures are those of a building in Itapa-Osin Comprehensive High
Sch, Itapa-Ekiti. It is one of the 100 Sch. buildings Fayemi claimed he
is repairing in Ekiti under his Operation Renovate All Schools in Ekiti
    (ORASE) project.
From d pictures, it can be seen clearly that this
building cannot be less than 30 years old. It was built with MUD-BLOCKS.
Yet, Fayemi is putting a new ROOF with new PLANKS on the building after
which it will be plastered and painted to make it look new. Yesterday
when community leaders form Itapa-Ekiti visited d school, one of them
complained openly that the building may collapse bcos of d “heavy loads”
being put on an already weak structure. Another one also expressed fear
that d building is a DEAD TRAP for students that will use it. Isn’t
    this HEARTLESS?

    It shuld be
noted that up till today, no letter of award has been issued to d THREE
“contractors” handling d project and d Contract sum is not known. Also,
no Bill of Quantity (BQ) has been produced too. Instead of SUBEB,
Ministry of Education or Ministry of Works, d project is being handled
by a new dept in Gov’s Office, Bureau of Special Project. Each of d 16
LGs in d state is contributing 50 percent of the project cost!
    Isn’t this FRAUDULENT?

Pls, let’s tell d whole world about this School Repair fraud b4 Fayemi kills our children!
