Deeper Life Okene Massacre: This is wickedness – Pastor Kumuyi

Respected cleric and General Superintendent, Deeper Christian Life Ministry, Pastor William Folorunsho Kumuyi has condemned the recent massacre of 19 members of his church in Okene, Kogi State.
The Apostle of the most high affirmed that the attack by gunmen was wicked and premeditated and thus called on the government to protect the citizens.

Kumuyi, in a statement expressed deep sadness and sorrow at the attack on Monday night on his Church during the Bible Study service.

“The attack is not only wicked, but utterly premeditated. The government should come to terms with the fact that a large swathe of people are being sent to the grave early, even as law enforcement agents seem unable to provide the required protection for all law abiding citizens. All these have implications for the progress, development and well being of the nation. Pastor Kumuyi warned that no nation could continue the way things were going in the nation.

“These killings and destruction have been going on particularly in the northern part of our country for too long. Each time they occurred, the usual condemnations are made, but thereafter, the people are left without any assurance of their security and safety. No nation can continue this way.

“It is hard to reconcile that peace-loving people, sitting in their church, and listening to Bible Study were gunned down in cold blood by people they had done nothing to provoke,” he lamented.

The preacher commiserated with the families of all those who were killed in the attack and prayed for the quick recovery of all those injured by the gunmen, assuring that he would continue to pray for them.

“If the body of Christians would rise up and pray, and the law enforcement agencies would intensify their efforts to combat this creeping instability, the killings and destruction in our country would be stemmed,” he said.

Kumuyi urged all Christians not to despair, saying that “in times like these, when there is so much fear across the land, all Christians must see it as an opportunity to  serve God more fervently.” He added.

    Honestly, when one listens to some these so called men of ‘God’ you can’t help wondering which God they represent…
    The report that people praying were massacred in cold blood on daily basis in churches, and they are calling for more prayers (Not action), that means the remaining ones (Christians) should come out to be killed huh..? That is more evil! They are of course protected Not by God though but bodyguards… I never read in the Bible that Moses, Elijah, Daniel, or even Jesus Himself or any of his apostles had a bodyguards or entourage.
    They never cared for those people they were meant to protect, like Christ ask them to protect His flock if they love Him, He never ask the ‘government’ to do that, knowing there was one.
    People should wake up and stop listening to rubbish just because it comes from their ‘pastors, bishops, priests’, etc…(Not to mention their useless government).. Compare what they say with what God says in the Bible and what Jesus did or warned in similar situation.
    Don’t put your faith in these men, because they are not really there to protect as Jesus demands from them, they are only on their own mission (At least most of them).

      @NM, u sound pretty much like a pagan, who barely even understand d ways of God. If u want it 2 b an eye 4 an eye thing, den u re dead wrong, u dont xpect these men of God 2 declare war, shoot guns n detonate bombs, God works in mysterious ways, come 2 think of it, who rescued Shedrach, Mishach N Abadinego from king Nebuchadnezzer. Prayer changes things, n i think its time u know dat n believe in miracles.

    With due respect, Paster Kumuyi, has not reacted well. He should have instructed innocent citizens to fight back since Jonathan is a coward that can not defend his people. People are being killed on daily basis and he is still saying we should be praying for them. God Himself instructed the Isrealites to fight the people of Jerico in the Bible. I dont see reasons why we should pray for the terrorists.
