“Resign if you are incompetent”- El-Rufai tells Jonathan

In his reaction to the continuous violence in the country, particularly in the North, former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, has advised the president to honourably resign if he is not competent enough to handle the present crisis in the country.

In an  interview with Vanguard newspaper, and retrieved by our correspondent, El-Rufai said for the government to allow innocent souls to be slaughtered daily without any response from the administration was unheard of.

Reacting to chief Edwin Clark’s allegation that the northern leaders had not done enough to fight against the spate of violence in the country,  el-Rufai had warned Clerk to avoid making unverified comments that will degrade him instead of uphold him.

The former FCT minister had advised Clerk to stop attacking northern leaders in his unguarded utterances.

According to him, Jonathan had declared though his action that he is not competent enough to bring the spate of violence in the country to a halt. He said that at different times in the history of the country, different political leaders had been confronted with different challenges, and were able to stand against them. “Why is it that only President Jonathan cannot solve Nigeria’s security problem? He asked

“If he cannot do the job for which he was elected to do, he should consider going home. No president has ever sought the help of the ordinary people in tackling security problems in this country.

“The protection of lives and property of the citizens is the basis of any government in power and if the leadership has failed woefully to deploy the resources and information at its disposal to enforce coercive power for the benefit of the society, then it had no reason to stay on,” he stated.

He said the current situation in the country had made many Nigerians to be worried about the future of the country, warning that if urgent steps were not taken to reverse the dangerous trend, the country could be plunged into a deeper crisis.

On the issue of low budget implementation, the former minister said “Yes, all of us would have seen the results if the budget had been well implemented. A good economic system shows in the quality of lives of the people and does not end on the pages of newspapers,”He concluded.

      What power does El – Rufai have to fight Boko Haram? He is not in charge of the security of this country. Nigerian Government have the sole responsibility to protect the lives and property of the citizens of this country irrespective of which region the problem is. And you should know that the North will not keep on going backwards because someday, all this problem shall come to past. So please I think u should know that what El Rufai just said is not baseless rather is the fact and as we all know, the truth is always bitter.
      People keep talking with sentiment and that is why Nigeria will never prosper. Once we keep on pointing fingers at each other, this country will forever be at a stand still point.

    The
    Problem with Nigeria is that if you are not with the Government – You criticize
    and even if you do this in good faith, you are considered as not loyal. The
    fact is that they (Govt) want everyone to support them, then you will be
    recognise and be given position or better still chance to steal. However, we
    all know that we have always have stubborn government in Nigeria. But GEJ
    government is one regime that is slow in implementation of policies and ineffectiveness
    of control grip of its security guarantee. I will not blame El-Rufia he had his
    chance and was adamant not to listen to the masses cries. I know I have kept a
    bullet for him someday. He came and destroyed many lives all in the bid to
    creating a mega city. The fact is that the satellites areas have got nothing to
    the development of Abuja as a whole. If you go around the Globe you will notice
    that they all have suburbs and satellites towns as well. Our leaders are our problem
    and until we flush them out – sorry.

    Who is on the ground in the North. Is it not the Northern Governors and sycophants? I still remember the story of how certain “Leaders” in the area were paying BH for security… Providing them with weapons and training. The truth of the matter is that your leaders up there care even less for you people than the average corrupt Nigerian politician. The truth is that since someone from the South South won an election we cannot hear word. You people do not have the concept of losing gracefully. Everything is do or die. When we lived under Abacha et al I’m sure you thought security was great. Your uncles and aunties without highschool diploma were in positions of power and raking in money. Sorry people. The bubble don burst. You have had your turn and in fact more than. The next president must be Yoruba, Igbo, or better yet another minority. We no longer have time for your games in this country and if you don’t like it secede. Take your deserts with you.

    Right from the day GEJ won the election violence started in the North, a sign that they were displeased about a southerner becoming the president of this country and furthermore to show their displeasure they have gone ahead to make the ‘North’ ungovernable for him in other to ruin his presidency, forgetting the big picture which has made greater nations prosper, the big picture being protecting, serving and upholding the honour of your father land above ur personal interests and it is an individual thin. Did those people called boko haram not come from a community in the North? What is the function of the local Govt? The state Govt? Should the president leave the fct and assume an office in the North. The Northern leaders did not fail, they have just refused to to do anything in a plot to ridicule GEJ’s presidency, but what they are doing is giving Nigeria a shameful name and exposing how the North has produced people wit no respect for life and properties a result of the achaic lifestyle, poor education and poverty which has destroyed the North ‘which did not start today but when this country was ruled by Northerners’ this plot will definitely bring about the complete downfall of the North!!! and that bloody mallam called el rufai will not go and talk to his village people to help fish out boko haram he is here talking nonsence. What effort has he made to tackle the boko haram terrorists as a prominent Northerner? He is very stupid to open his Mouth and say such nonsence! He should face that mouth of his to his brothers constituting nuisance and disgracing this nation, silly of him to think that it is GEJ they are disgracing, let him travel abroad and see how he will be treated as a Nigerian and then a Northerner. Nonsence!!!
