Nigerian politicians are dream killers, we will never do business again in Nigeria – Richard Branson

The rich international businessman, Richard Branson, has lambasted the crop of leaders we have in Nigeria for their high level greed which, according to him, is killing big brands wishing to do business with the government of the country, for the growth of Nigeria’s economy.

Below is the revelations by Mr. Branson on his experience in Nigeria…

The chairman of Virgin Atlantic said: “…we have virgin’s ill-fated footsteps by setting up a new airline in Africa in conjunction with Nigerian government…the details of the doomed attempts to crack the Nigerian market in the 2000s is better imagined…we put …together a very good airline-the first airline in West Africa that was ever IOSA/IATA operational safety audit accredited but unfortunately it got tied down to the politics of the country…we led the airlines for 11 years…

“We fought daily battle against government agents who wanted to daily make fortune from us, politicians who saw the government 49% as a meal to seek for all kinds of favour…watchdogs (regulatory body) that didn’t know what to do and persistently asking for bribes at any point…Nigeria people are generally nice but the politicians are very insane…that may be irony because the people make up the politicians…

“But those politicians are selfish…we did make N3billion for the federal government of Nigeria during the joint venture…realising that the government didn’t bring nothing to the table/partnership except dubious debts by the previous carrier, Nigeria Airways…The joint venture should have been the biggest African carrier by now if the partnership was allowed to grow, but the politicians KILLED it…Nigeria is a country we SHALL NEVER consider to doing business again..”

      Of course, Richard Branson is right on the money here. The corruption is mind-boggling and sickening! Only God can save Nigeria. Mr Branson can do without the money he can make from Nigeria, he is already a dollar billionaire.

      Other multinationals that chose to stay in Nigeria are staying because they need the money they can make from Nigeria, Branson can do without it. Nigerians (not just politicians) are sick!

      The problem starts with officials at the airport, begging for money, lecturers (including Professors!) selling pamphlets to students to ‘make’ money.
      The political superstructure has certainly killed the substructure, virtually everyone(not just politicians) are now thieves.

      The system is not sustainable, and it will collapse. unfortunately, the oil money is postponing the evil day – the day when Nigeria will be totally disintegrated and annihilated

Nigeria is gradually heading into the abyss. Facebook predators, Kidnappers, armed robbers, Cultist and student cultist, 419ers, prostitutes, Bank MDs and Directors who are IPO swindlers and money launderers. IBB, OGB and others have killed Nigeria. Nigeria is heading towards the abyss.

    Mr. Branson makes a good point and it looks as if this is an ongoing generational problem with no end in sight. The hope of the continent was placed on Nigeria but they let everybody down for their greed. Rather than building their own wealth to be an enduring substance with strength and pride; they’d rather get rich quick via corrupt practices. It is so prevalent now until it is treated as normal behavior.
    Just look at the governors, everyone of them are filthy rich from corruption. They’ve stolen so much money they can’t even keep it all in Nigerian banks. So the bulk of their wealth is kept in European banks or real estate holdings in Euro countries.
    Little do they realize they are building up Europe at Nigeria expense. And these are educated thieves that become politicians.
    Alas, the Nigerian people has suffer much and are in desperate need of honest, intelligent leadership. God, please do help them soon before Nigeria’s doom.

    i tried doing business in kenya and uganda,.unbeleivable ignorance from the people there,.
    maybe they need foreign techinical schools and realise their countries are ruined by them selves,.
    the young genreations will never know how much of the global economy they are missing so they wil never change either and its all going down hill fast,.
    nigeria is more famous for drug dealing and scammming,. than anything else
